Banbridge District Policing Partnership (DPP) is one of twenty-six local District Policing Partnerships established in each council area of Northern Ireland. It is a partnership between Banbridge District Council and representatives of the local community consisting of nine elected councillors (Political Members) and eight publicly appointed representatives of the local community (Independent Members). It was established in March 2003 following recommendations made by the Independent Commission on Policing for Northern Ireland (Patten Report).
Role
Provide those living and working within the District with an opportunity to express their views on local policing and influence how the local police service is delivered in the District.
Responsibilites
- Consult with the community on local policing and crime issues;
- Analyse and prioritise the issues identified by the community and provide these priorities to the local District Commander so that they can be taken into account when the local Policing Plan is being drawn up;
- Monitor police performance against the objectives contained in the current local Policing Plan and the annual Policing Plan as it relates to the District;
- Engage with the community across the District to obtain their co-operation with the police in preventing crime.
Have Your Say on Local Policing!
If you live and work in the Banbridge District, you can help shape local policing. Your views will help members of Banbridge DPP to monitor the performance of the police against the annual targets set out in the local Policing Plan. Banbridge DPP holds at least six Meetings in Public at various venues in the District throughout the year. If you and/or your community group/organisation are directly affected by the policing of the District, you can ask a question through these Meetings in Public. Your question will be considered if you submit it in writing, by fax or email to the Banbridge DPP Manager at least ten days before the advertised date of the Meeting. You are welcome to attend these Meetings, where you will be able to ask question and raise issues. Alternatively, you can ask a member of Banbridge DPP to ask a question or raise an issue on your behalf.
