Department Description:
Formed in June 2008 as a result of merging two Council departments formerly known as Leisure and Community Services and Development, the Community and Enterprise Services Department is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of services. These include arts and events, community services and relations, community safety, countryside access, economic development, district policing, leisure services, local and regional partnerships, parks, open spaces, tourism and town centre development. Additionally, it has a key strategic role to play in community safety and local policing issues with its direct involvement in the Banbridge District Community Safety Partnership and Banbridge District Policing Partnership. This department will also be responsible for delivering key programmes such as Interreg IVa, Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007–2013 and EU Competitiveness and Employment Programme 2007–2013.
