Scarva to Bloom with Family Fun at Teddy Bears Picnic 30 July 2010
Young children throughout the Banbridge District are invited to don their best fancy dress costume and bring their favourite teddy or cuddly toy along to the Teddy Bears Picnic in Scarva on Thursday 12 August between 10am and 1pm.
Banbridge District Council has organised an assortment of free activities and attractions in the award-winning village for families with young children to coincide with the annual Britain in Bloom judging event.
The main attraction at this year’s event will be a fancy dress parade and competition with a great prize going to the best dressed ‘Scarva in Bloom’ character. There will also be a disco, giving children an opportunity to show their funky dancefloor moves and grooves. Heatherbrook Silver Band will perform at the bandstand at 10am and again at noon.
With a varied programme of entertainment lined-up to suit children of all ages, visitors are guaranteed to enjoy a great family day out. Balloon modelling, face painting, crazy golf, bungee running and a bouncy castle are just some of the other activities that children can enjoy at the event. For children who like to be creative, there are craft workshops in fuzzy felt, plasticine, shortbread decorating and colouring in.
At noon, children can enjoy lunch on the village green with a group of cuddly characters. Visitors are advised to bring their own picnic with them. Alternatively, Scarva Visitor Centre serves a great range of delicious homemade cuisine.
